Have you Harnessed the power of your subconscious mind?

Just got through reading  Ant and The Elephant,  by Vince Poscente  and here are some of the things I learned.

At birth, humans have approximately 120 billion glial cells, active neurons in the brain. Over time, through a natural process called pruning, unused  neurons become dormant. As adults, we  each end up with about ten billion active neurons available for conscious and subconscious brain activity. The conscious mind uses about two thousand neurons. In that same second, the subconscious mind uses four billion neurons.  This means that every second, there are tow thousand neurons making conscious decisions and four billion neurons making subconscious decisions. Now, ask yourself. Who is in control?
So this means that only by aligning your subconscious with your conscious will you be able to reach your true full potential.  Here are some tips on how you do it.

1. Clarify Your Vision;  Find the Elephant buzz. Find the emotion that ignites the vision. Inspire your team through emotion. Never underestimate the power of emotion.
  • Make fear your friend, not your master.  Get out of your comfort zone.
  • You don’t know what you don’t know. Open your mind to discover possibilities that may not be obvious at the time.
  • Zero in on a goal that has a depth of meaning. The journey has to be worth taking.
  • Without conflict there is no growth, and the most challenging conflict is within ourselves.
2. Commit to cultivating  positive dominant thoughts. Stay the course. Change is gradual. Remember the Drops in the Bucket to avoid frustration.
  • We live in a world of instant gratification, but we need to fight that pressure and remember that the worthiest goals take time and energy.
  • Learn to delay Gratification.
  • Shift beliefs, attitudes and truths so they are aligned with your vision.
  • Envision have the goal, rather than merely wanting the goal.
  • Elgo’s beliefs, attitudes and truths can be deeply held. You can change Elgo’s mind with a dedicated, focused effort.
  • Gratitude is the magic ingredient in the recipe for a fulfilling life.
3. Consistently focus on performance.
  • Experience the goal as though it were happening right now.
  • Show your gratitude consistently.
  • The Chain of negativity is a pattern.
  • As you learn to recognize negative patterns, you will interrupt them earlier and earlier.
4. Strengthen Confidence.  Institute pattern busters. Once you recognize yourself or your team playing out the pattern of negativity, interrupt this thought by saying, “Thank you, but that is not part of my vision. My vision is…… Experience the vision in detail.
  • Frustration will lead to negative thoughts. Negative thoughts add fuel to more negativity. This negativity can be a pattern that destroys confidence.
  • No two thoughts can occupy the mind at the same time. Replace negativity with positive, confident thoughts.
  • Being committed to a task means, in effect, being committed to the process of commitment.
  • Extraordinary steps produce extraordinary results.

As you live your life, you’ll realize the importance of living without regret over what might have been.  Will you look back and wonder if you could’ve done more? Will you look back and question whether you gave it everything you had? If you can look back and have no regrets, you’ll know that you did your best, and your best can take you to places beyond your wildest expectations.

Do you know your purpose?

"Purposeless people don’t transform, but those who develop a clear focus on a life’s purpose will find that such a purpose will not only give them direction and guidance in life, but may even help them survive the most difficult of circumstances." ~ Tim Marks
